Prayer / Declaration / Liturgy – Jeremy Austill

I try to have a prayer and study life that is multi-faceted. I have a rhythm but within that rhythm I have varying methods of praying and approaches to exploring scripture. One method I used is to write declarations which I use as a routing liturgy throughout the week. Below is the declaration I made this morning.

In
the Beginning the Word already existed, the Word was with God, and the Word was
God. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and His life brought
light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never
extinguish it. He came into the very world he created, but this world didn’t
recognize him. He came to His own people, and even they rejected Him. But to all who believed Him
and accepted Him, He gave the right to become sons of God.
They
are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but
a birth that comes from God.

I
confess today, I am a son of God. My Father not only pardoned my sin through
the work of Jesus but also adopted me as His own. My Father not only granted me
mercy from punishment, but also initiated me into the citizenship of His
Kingdom. I am no longer a beggar, an orphan, a sinner or an outsider. No longer
will I live under the burden of insecurity in my relationship with you Father.
I reject the fear of disappointment, and approach you not from the motivation
of earning or appeasement but as a loved son drawing near to a receptive
Father.

Because
of my sonship, I am seated with Christ in heavenly places. I have died to this
life, and my real life is hidden with Christ in the Father. Through the
finished work of Christ on the cross, I now enter God’s presence boldly and
with confidence. I am an heir of God’s glory. I am no longer subject to the
patterns and systems of this world for I am linked with the systems and
patterns of God’s Kingdom. I have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in
heavenly realms and I am complete through my union with Christ. I reject fear,
timidity and intimidation, for what the Lord has given, this world cannot take
away. I receive mercy and grace to help when I need it most. Because of my love
for God, He works all things for the good. I am free in every way imaginable,
especially in heart. I stand before the Father, holy and blameless and without
a single fault because I have been reconciled through the death of Christ. As a
citizen of the Kingdom, I have been granted righteousness, peace and joy
through the Holy Spirit. Despite this world, overwhelming victory is mine
through Christ. Nothing can separate me from the love of the Father…not death,
life, angels, demons, fears for today, worries about tomorrow nor the powers of
Hell.
