  • December may very well be my favorite time of the year. I certainly love the awakening of beauty after the dormant rest of Winter. I crave the vitality, energy, and life of the summer months. As the breeze cools and the hue of foliage slowly

  • Three years ago today my dad passed away. No one reading can escape the inevitability of wrestling with the death of someone dear to the heart. We are all in the same boat, being able to identify with one another on a very personal, meaningful

  • The subject of money is a touchy one, especially in church. Let me go on record that I have absolutely no problem or hesitance talking about money and the life of a believer. The reason is simple. The vast majority of society, Christians

  • Vision for the future should never distract us from the present. Being a “visionary” is nothing more than vain imagination if it disables us from being fully present in the moment.

  • For the last 8 summers we have had the privilege of leading youth and kids camps. In the 3rd summer our culture shifted and each summer since has been a deepening of what the Lord initiated. You choose your preferred term...revival, awakening, renewal, refreshing, glory, presence, kingdom...all I know is that HE came near and that same favor rests on us all these years later.
.
It is a humbling honor to be present in the room as Jesus comes and does miracles and changes live. I will go down fighting to make sure this never becomes common or old to my heart.
.
Along the way, a family is formed and ever evolving. So many of the leaders present this summer, have been present many summers. We are all a part of something special...this little movement of our...this movement of His.
.
Within that family is a subset...a sect...a remnant....
.
Every summer 15-20 young adults join us, toeing the front lines, serving on the back lines, expending themselves fully in both natural and spiritual ways.
.
We call them "interns", though that may be the most banal, elementary explanation of who they are and how precious they are to this movement. I am absolutely convinced, much of our present culture in TYM is directly linked to the blood, sweat, and tears and these young men and women who have served through the years.
.
None of them have met the mark of perfection. As with anyone else, flaws are present. They are evolving in emotional, mental and spiritual maturity. Some return while others move on. Some faces become very familiar with each passing year in front of the blue line, while others serve one summer and transition in life.
.
Regardless, their impact, their presence, their oil...the residual of their time at Camp Jackson remains. Their camp experience is different...it's an experience the is both humbling and confidence building...it is grueling yet glorious...it is confronting and comforting...and it's one that can never be taken from them.
.
